Outsource these 5 marketing tasks to make money and save time

I remember when I first considered hiring someone, I was really nervous about it.

Can I afford it?

Will it be worth it?

Is my business ready?

Looking back now, I can say that the answers to those questions were all a resounding YES.

If I could go back in time, I would have started outsourcing much, much earlier…because it would have helped me grow so much faster.

I heard this great quote from James Wedmore the other day. He said:

“The reason you can’t afford outsourcing is because you’re not outsourcing yet.”

I like that! It’s so counterintuitive, right? But having the right people on your team can actually help you earn more while working less.

I never would have been able to make multiple six figures if I tried to do everything myself. There just aren’t enough hours in the day.

Having a strong team helping with the workload means I have more time for the important work that actually moves the needle of my business and makes the big bucks.

There’s a trick to this, though. Because you don’t want to outsource just any role…

You want to outsource one that will earn you money.

For most businesses, that role is marketing. You can hire someone to bring picture-perfect customers straight to your door, hungry to work with you, without you needing to lift a finger.

To make it easy to get started, I put together a guide on the 5 marketing jobs you can start outsourcing today, and clear signs that tell you which one to tackle first:

 Your Facebook ads

You need to outsource this if:

  • You’re not getting new leads into your business.
  • You’re tired of going to networking events, talking with referral partners, and cold calling to connect with potential customers.
  • You want a way to automatically collect new leads.

If you want to get new people in the door, a Facebook ads manager is a great person to add to your team.

Sure, you could try and learn all the ins and outs of the Facebook ads platform, then create and manage your own ads. But is that really the best use of your time?

The Facebook ads platform is always changing and so this really could turn into a full-time job. It’s easier to hire a Facebook ads manager who stays up-to-date on all the latest and greatest changes, rules, and ad copywriting strategies so you don’t have to.

Your lead nurturing

You need to outsource this if:

  • None of your new leads are turning into customers.
  • People opt in for your lead magnet but then quickly unsubscribe from your email list.
  • You don’t have the time (or expertise) to create emails that strategically turn strangers into friends.

What happens when someone joins your email list? Do you have a clear system to take them by the hand and lead them towards working with you?

If not, you may want to hire someone to create an automated email sequence for you.

Email is my favourite way to turn strangers into friends because your sequence will automatically go out to every new subscriber, warming them up in a natural way.

But it takes an investment of time to create your sequence. If you realistically don’t have time to write 15 or so emails…

Or know what to say to make strangers know, like, and trust you…

Or want to spend hours working on the tech to get those emails automated…

Hiring someone to create your email nurture sequence is a great option.

Your design

You need to outsource this if:

  • Your business doesn’t “look” good online…and you have no idea how to fix it.
  • The visuals on your website or social media pages don’t match your business.
  • You never know what type of image to share, or colours or fonts to use.

We form impressions so quickly, often in a matter of milliseconds. Great brand visuals make a strong first impression and help you stand out in a noisy online world.

Using consistent colours, fonts, and images also builds a sense of trust with potential customers. When people see the same type of graphics from you over and over again, they feel like they know you and your vibe.

There are all sorts of things you can outsource when it comes to design. Here are a few:

  • Social media graphics
  • Your website
  • Infographics
  • Your logo
  • Photo editing
  • Lead magnet (free report) creation
  • Print design (letterhead, business cards, brochures, etc.)

Designers are true experts in their craft. A design project that might take you 10 hours could be done by an experienced designer in 2.

Plus, they’re often familiar with things like design software, colour trends, website hacks, and print companies — which makes them handy to have as members of your team.

Your copywriting

You need to outsource this if:

  • You don’t know how to sell yourself with words.
  • You struggle to communicate your personality through your writing.
  • You want your website (or Facebook ads…or emails) to do the selling so you don’t have to.

A copywriter’s job is to get inside your customer’s head…and then make your product or service sound like the shining solution to their deepest, darkest problems.

A good copywriter can generate clicks, likes, subscribers, sales, and raving fans…depending on what you need them for.

Here are just a few projects you can outsource to a copywriter:

  • Social media posts
  • Marketing emails
  • Blog posts
  • Website copy
  • Press releases
  • Video scripts
  • Sales pages
  • Sales emails

Adding a copywriter to your team can save you time, make you money, and help you tackle all of those marketing writing projects on your list.

Your overall marketing strategy

You need to outsource this if:

  • You’re not a marketing expert but you want to utilise proven tactics to grow your business.
  • Your marketing is disjointed and chaotic and lacks a solid strategy.
  • Your marketing simply isn’t working (or is nonexistent.)

Imagine if you tried baking a chocolate cake without a recipe. It would be almost impossible, right?

Sure, you might know that you should use high-quality chocolate or that the eggs should be room temperature. But if you don’t understand how all the pieces come together, your cake’s not going to be very tasty.

The same is true for your marketing.

So many business owners just throw spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks. One week they try Facebook. The next they wing it with an email sequence. Then they try blogging for a couple months. But they don’t get real, repeatable results because they’re not following a well-planned strategy.

A marketing strategist can lay out a clear roadmap of what you need to do to achieve your goals. All you need to do is follow the bouncing ball to put your marketing plan into practice.

You can choose to implement the plan yourself…or you can outsource the implementing to additional members of your team. (That’s when you’ll achieve outsourcing nirvana, grasshopper.)
